Prepping Up
Before you start applying your makeup, prepping your skin is really very important
Start by cleaning your skin with a cleanser , exfoliate with a good scrub followed by a toner to calm down your skin. Apply a good amount of moisturizer for hydrated skin.
After the skincare routine, comes the most important part to start our makeup i.e. using a good primer , to create a smooth and even canvas on our skin.
You can opt for a dewy or matte primer according to your choice.
Anam’s Recommended Product: e.l.f Pourless Putty Primer
Creating a Base
Start off by applying foundation or tinted moisturiser that is lightweight and will perfectly match your skin tone . Apply it with a damp beauty blender to avoid a cakey look.
Alternatively you can mix your liquid foundation with moisturiser to make it extra light and sheeny.
( Avoid using a full coverage foundation)
Anam’s Recommended Product: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer
Tip: Remember that less is more, so don’t go overboard with your base. You want your skin to look like skin, not like you’re wearing a mask.
Concealing the Imperfections
Next, apply a concealer to hide those unwanted dark circles and to enhance your under eyes.
A quality concealer should stay invisible, but it doesn’t end with just opting for the right shade. It is best to carefully consider when choosing your texture. Liquid formulas leave a more natural-looking finish, compared to creams, which are a bit heavier. Find more reviews on concealers, including our picks for the Top 5 Concealers for Mature Skin here.
Anam’s Recommended Concealer: Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer
Tip: Go for a minimal approach with your concealer.
Define Your Cheeks
Intense contouring is not the goal when it comes to natural, easy makeup looks. The key is to use a lighter touch with, so your makeup remains natural-looking and doesn’t turn into full glam. Contour your features by applying bronzer into the hollows of the cheeks for that sun kissed look.
Anam’s Recommended Product: Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzing Powder
Blush
The most flattering cheek colour is the shade your skin flushes naturally. To achieve a natural look opt for a cream or liquid blush, on the apple of the cheeks and sweep it outwards and upwards along your cheekbones towards your hairline. Apply a Lil bit on your nose and chin to get that peachy red flushed look.
Anam’s Recommended Product: Benefit Benetint Lip and Cheek Stain
Highlighter
For that absolute goddess glow, apply a cream or a liquid based highlighter on the high points of your face.
Dot a little across the tops of the cheekbones, temples, and down the nose.
Anam’s Recommended Product: Mac Strobe Cream Pinklite
Tip: Go for a highlighter that’s one to two shades lighter than your skin.
Set Your Face
Use a setting powder to set your makeup, absorb extra oil for all-day shine control, and maintain a more natural appearance.
Set Your Creams & Liquids You’ve Applied With A Light Layer Of Translucent Powder
Anam’s Recommended Product: Laura Mercier : Translucent Loose Powder
Eye Makeup
For the natural eye look , go for a light base on the lid of your eyes by applying a nude eye shadow (neutral shades) . Brush the brows upwards, to get a lift. Fill in your eyebrows with a shade that complements the colour of your natural brows ,using a brow pencil or a brow gel.
Your daily makeup routine is never complete without grooming your lashes. Curl your lashes by using a lash curler. Apply a waterproof mascara for voluminous lashes.
Next, tightline your upper lash line using a brown or black eye pencil for darker lashes illusion. To keep things as natural as possible, don’t go beyond your outer lash line & lid.
Tip: skip liquid eyeliner
Perfect Pout
Always make sure to hydrate your lips with a lip balm , you can go for a rosy pink / nude colour lip gloss.
You can also apply a nude lip liner and fill it up with a nude lipstick.
You should aim to go with a shade that’s in the same color family and has the same undertone as your blush.
Tip: Pick a shade that is closest to your natural lip colour
Final Touch:
Let your makeup stay for a longer period by using a setting spray , it dries naturally in few seconds
Voila!! Here’s your natural makeup look.
