Product Review: e.l.f. Cosmetics Monochromatic Multi-Stick

3-in-1 cream blush? Is the e.l.f. Cosmetics Monochromatic Multi-Stick really worth it?

By Greta Skuka

We Love Cream Blushes

Blushes are making a comeback into the makeup world and we are here for it. Minimalist dewy makeup looks have been trending the last couple of years and this has pushed many brands into creating lightweight and creamy makeup products, and e.l.f. has been going strong releasing affordable and high-quality products that are dupes to very expensive makeup products (and sometimes the even better version of those).

Why We Love It

Cream blushes in particular are turning into an obsession. We just can’t have enough of them. From peachy to rosy colors, they tie up a makeup look and instantly elevate it. e.l.f. has launched a multi-purpose stick blush that retails for $5 on Amazon. But is it worth the hype?

Monochromatic Multi-Stick Features

This stick blush comes in a small minimalist packing that’s very easy to travel with. It weighs 0.17 oz (5 grams). It’s vegan and cruelty-free, and free from phthalates, parabens and other unwanted ingredients.

The formula is enriched with Shea Butter and Vitamin E which make the application smooth and creamy, but don’t feel heavy on the skin.

How does it perform?

The e.l.f. Cosmetics Monochromatic Multi-Stick comes in five different shades and Sparkling Rose caught my eye. It’s a beautiful rusty kind of vintage red color; on my skin tone (fair) it looks very deep. It has a lot of glitters, so it really stands to its name ‘sparkling’.

The product is very creamy! It melts into the fingers as soon as you touch the stick. I personally prefer applying it with my fingers and patting it on the skin, but it works just as good even with a brush.

It is highly pigmented and a little product can leave a beautiful blush color. It melts with the skin and blends seamlessly with the foundation without lifting it. It can be used as an eyeshadow and even as a lipstick which makes it very convenient. This cream blush, even though on a stick form, it has a very powdery finish and it doesn’t look dewy like other cream blushes. The product itself has a lot of sparkles, but that doesn’t really show on the skin.

On the eyelids, I like to use it for a monochromatic look, but it can be used as a base shadow or transition color. On the lips it look beautiful and natural, and nourishes them due to Shea Butter. I like to add a clear gloss on top to enhance the look.

As I mentioned before, it can be applied with a blush brush or fingers. With the brush the finish is seamless, but with the fingers the color is more intense. It can definitely built up.

The Bottom Line

Overall, I really like the e.l.f. Cosmetics Monochromatic Multi-Stick. I think it performs very well, the formula is nice and the color is pigmented and I can see it lasting a lot. It’s very affordable and I think that e.l.f. once again has created a nice product and it’s available here on Amazon
